ABOUT US
Since 1972, Appalachian Timber Services has been producing high quality treated and manufactured timber products for the railroad industry.
Located in the heart of West Virginia's prime hardwood timber-growing region — and served by local sawmills, ATS is always ready to provide high quality manufactured and treated wood products mainly for Railroad applications. We treat and manufacture products for railroads, transit agencies, railroad contractors and heavy industry. We mainly serve due to freight constraints, the Appalachian Corridor region — from Eastern Canada to South Carolina, and Indiana to the East Coast.

We Deliver
ATS is well known for the production and treatment of high quality cross and switch ties. All ties are 100 percent nail plated and incised according to industry specifications. We also provide pre drilling and pre plating services and manufacture profile ties for several customers.
ATS has a state of the art manufacturing facility and experienced crews enabling us to provide treated bridge ties to our customer’s most difficult specification and drawings. We can do angle dapping, tapering, drilling and standard cuts as well as preplating of bridge ties. See our project page for a visual overview of our capabilities.

We offer standard crossing timbers ranging from Class I specifications to highway, industrial, and farm applications. We offer “standard” ATS crossing that is dapped, predrilled with filler blocks and beveled ends if requested. All ra sizes are available for all rail sections. Other hardware is available including lag screws and spikes upon request.
